The SandBox UMX4 offers convenient DMX and MIDI to PC connectivity in a portable package. It is the perfect compliment to a laptop or PC running lighting control software to form a complete lighting control system with a minimum of external cables and components. The UMX4 is also an excellent input device for visualization software like WYSIWYGä, Martin ShowDesignerä, Captureä, etc.

The SandBox UMX4 is equipped with 4 bi-directional ports for up to 2,048 DMX inputs or outputs. All DMX connectors and indicators are located on the front of the unit for easy access and monitoring. Two ports are equipped with female XLRs and two with male XLRs. Each of the bi-directional ports is complimented by separate input and output indicators and features software controlled end-of-line termination.

The UMX4 is also equipped with two software controlled loop-through relays that can facilitate a passive connection between the male and female ports. This is very useful in situations where the UMX4 and a PC are used to provide a backup function or other applications where the UMX4 is connected inline between a controller and the DMX devices.

The MIDI In, out, and through connectors are located on the back of the unit. The MIDI indicator is located on the front of the unit for easy monitoring.

SandNet LocalLink provides a unique utility that allows you to connect the SandBox UMX4 to PC based lighting controls outputting many of the manufacturer specific and all of the open “DMX over Ethernet” protocols. This offers an exceptional level of connectivity with DMX input and output from a wide variety of industry leading lighting control systems and visualizers.
