Sand Network Systems takes

ACN and W-DMX to PLASA and LDI.

Hands-on demonstrations of ACN and W-DMX
excite tradeshow visitors in London and Las Vegas.

Sand Network Systems hosted ETC, Martin, Pathway Connectivity, and Wireless Solutions AB at this years LDI Connectivity Pavilion.  On display were ACN, RDM and W-DMX technology giving attendees a glimpse into the future of networked and wireless lighting and show control.  Sand Network Systems also gave an ACN and W-DMX presentation at the always well attended Friday morning
"LDI: New Lighting Technology Breakfast"
.

The success at LDI follows Sand Network Systems participation in the ETC hosted Connectivity Suite at PLASA in London.  Equipment from Martin, ETC and it's European brands AVAB, Transtechnik, and IES, as well as  network technology from Sand Network Systems, gave the European market a chance to get a better understanding of the technologies that will "carry the load" in future entertainment control systems.

ACN repeat at USITT 2004!

Sand Network Systems participates in
ESTA’s Interconnectivity Pavilion at USITT 2004.

Sand Network Systems and major players in the lighting industry reaffirmed their commitment to the ACN standard in the form of another very successful ESTA Interconnectivity Pavilion at the recent USITT Conference and Trade Show in Long Beach, California.

“The ACN effort has gathered significant momentum and the Interconnectivity Pavilion proved that interest is growing across a wide spectrum of industry participants, from manufacturers to end users.  ACN benefits from continued active support among major manufacturers like ETC, Strand, and Martin, as well as from ESTA and PLASA”, says President of Sand Network Systems Hans Lau.

Sand Network Systems showcased several ACN products based on draft 1.0:

SandNet™ ACN - Middleware with full implementation of ACN and support for other Ethernet based lighting control protocols.  Features include user friendly “drag and drop” mapping of ACN devices to DMX and RDM for control of legacy equipment.

SandBox™ ACN - A portable ACN Ethernet to DMX and RDM interface.

ACNE™ - Advanced Control Network Explorer, a full-featured ACN device browser and network analyzer with traffic logging.

DDLFactory™ - A utility that will build Device Description Language files in XML format from legacy fixture libraries.

TripleHeader™ - A DDL file browser that concurrently will display XML code, the XML tree structure, and the corresponding ACN memory map.

“These types of interfaces and utilities are essential for a successful implementation of ACN.  Sand Network Systems holds significant expertise in this area of network technology and will continue to develop support products to facilitate a rapid deployment of ACN”, says CTO Yngve Sandboe.

ACN success at LDI 2003!

Sand Network Systems participates in ESTAs
highly successful Interconnectivity Pavilion at LDI 2003 in Orlando!

A new era in entertainment control networks was heralded by the great success of ESTA's Interconnectivity pavilion at LDI 2003 in Orlando. The pavilion offered a preview of the new and exciting Advanced Control Network (ACN) technology that will change the way the world designs and use entertainment controls.

Sand Network Systems could present an ACN enabled version of the highly acclaimed SandNet network operating system demonstrating ACN device management, manufacturer interoperability, and connectivity to RDM and DMX legacy equipment. SandNet will be released in a completely ACN based version when the standard allows  and preview versions will be available for download shortly.

We also demonstrated ACN connectivity to the WYSIWYG, Martin ShowDesigner, and Capture visualizers, as well as ACN interfaces to PC applications like Winamp, Windows Media Player, Oberon3D, and others.  These applications showcased ACNs potential as a tool to extend and integrate control far beyond the traditional domain of lighting and show control.

The SandBox EMX2 interface was for the occasion on display in an ACN version that provides an extension of the ACN control capabilities into the world of RDM and DMX legacy equipment.  This is an important feature that will facilitate a painless transition to the new technology while preserving the investment that the industry has in existing equipment.

Sand Network Systems has taken an active role in the work to establish and promote the ACN standard and will aggressively roll out hardware and software products to take advantage of this new and exciting technology!
